Laura Lasworth - Artist

Laura Lasworth is a painter whose known for her sophisticated use of literary, philosophical, and personal symbolism. Her method has been rather like that of a long-form writer. In her elaborate cycles of paintings including, Love’s Lyric, The Gray, The Western Wall, and After Images, each panel functions as a chapter; from a whole a narrative emerges, coaxing careful “reading.”

Since her first solo show in 1981 she's consistently exhibited her work in numerous solo and group shows. Her work has been featured in such publications as Art in America, Artforum, The Los Angeles Times, Huffington Post, and IMAGE Journal

Lasworth was born and raised in Chicago lL. After many years living in Los Angeles CA, she now lives and works in Seattle, WA.

Laura Lasworth received her BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and MFA from California Institute of the Arts.
